Resolutions…

It’s that time of year again when people make resolutions for the New Year. I must admit, I don’t do New Year’s resolutions any more. Haven’t done for ages. However, I think the following is a good thing to pray for and keep in mind:

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

I don’t know who wrote it, so I can’t cite any source, so if you know, let me know.
May you know the blessing of God in 2005.

    Attributed to theologian Dr. Rheinhold Niebuhr.

    God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
    courage to change the things I can,
    and the wisdom to know the difference.
    Living one day at a time,
    enjoying one moment at a time,
    accepting hardship as the pathway to peace;
    taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is,
    not as I would have it;
    trusting that He will make all things right
    if I surrender to His will;
    that I may be reasonably happy in this life,
    and supremely happy with Him forever
    in the next.

    Amen
